At the World Blind Union (WBU), our organizational philosophy centers around inclusivity, empowerment, and advocacy for blind and partially sighted individuals worldwide.
We operate with a structured pyramid vision that guides our long-term goals and strategic planning over four-year cycles. Our overarching twenty-year vision envisions a world where blind and partially sighted people can fully participate in all aspects of life they choose. This vision is supported by four strategic “vision ladders” aimed at achieving recognition for WBU as the authentic international voice for our community, enhancing the capabilities of our members to deliver impactful programs, advocating for increased accessibility in society, and establishing WBU as a premier global source of information on vision impairment.
Central to our cultural philosophy is a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated and every individual’s voice is heard. We believe in the power of collaboration and mutual respect, valuing the unique perspectives and contributions of our diverse team members and stakeholders. Our cultural ethos emphasizes transparency, accountability, and continuous learning, ensuring that our actions align with our values and contribute positively to the advancement of our mission. Through these principles, we strive to empower blind and partially sighted individuals globally, advocating for their rights and promoting greater societal inclusion and accessibility.
